We’re kicking off the week with the perfect prize for anyone that loves our beautiful town and its unmistakable landmarks.

Bedfordshire-based artist, Georgina Westley has created this Bedford art print and to celebrate its launch, she’s offering one lucky reader the chance to own one in the colour and size of their choice.

Whether you are a local resident, at the College or University, a keen rower, an embankment jogger, an Italian food lover or a gig-goer, there are plenty of local landmarks on this print to reflect the place you love.

Can you spot the following: The Higgins, the Embankment, Oasis Pool, Borough Hall, Bedford Rowing Club, the Butterfly Bridge, Bedford Bridge, Castle Mound, Guru Nanak Gurdwara Temple, St Pauls, Holy Child and St Joseph, Harpur Shopping Centre, The Harpur Suite?

Georgina, who studied graphic design at Bedford College and is now based in Sandy, said she’s been planning the print for some time.

“I’ve been wanting to create an art print of Bedford for a while now but I couldn’t find a new and interesting angle on it,” she told the Bedford Independent

“However, recently I’ve developed a geometric format that allows me to include multiple landmarks. Once I had this style nailed, I knew straight away how I wanted to depict Bedford.

Asked for her favourite element of the print, she said: “I liked creating the feeling of the Embankment area with the bridges and the boat houses. Also the Guru Nanak Gurdwara temple. This is the second time I’ve drawn this as I also used it in a logo that I created for the NHS East Anglia Trauma Network.”

Working on the print allowed Georgian to look at Bedford with a new perspective.

“I think anytime you try to condense a place into one piece of art you have to really focus on the essence of the town. I like my work to be celebratory and Bedford has an abundance of creativity and culture and I wanted this print to reflect that.”
