Following on from the success of last year’s peaceful protest walk held in February last year, CPRE Bedfordshire, the countryside charity, is inviting local groups to ‘March for the Countryside’ throughout March.

These are peaceful walks, allowing local communities to show their appreciation of the wonderful countryside in Bedfordshire and to raise awareness of threats to our precious green spaces.
Those threats may be from development, infrastructure projects, loss of biodiversity or the impact of climate change.
The first of the ‘March for the countryside’ peaceful protest walks took place on Sunday, 5 March.
The event organised by the Silsoe Road Residents Association in Maulden saw more than 50 residents including children and dogs following the public footpaths which run along the boundary of the proposed development site in Silsoe Road.
More walks are planned across the county including in Flitwick, Clapham, Houghton Regis and Lower Stondon. There’s still time to even organise your own walk at the CPRE Bedfordshire website.
