Girls from Scott Primary School got to experience the atmosphere of Wembley on cup final day this month (4 May), after being invited to watch the SSE Women’s FA cup final between Manchester City and West Ham United.

16 students who all play in the school’s Wildcat Centre after-school girls football club, joined girls from other Wildcat Centres from across the country in a parade around the pitch before settling into their front row seats to watch the match.

A spokesperson for the school said: “What an experience it was for the girls to get within touching distance of the turf of Wembley.

“Our Wildcat Centre is run by Bedford Ladies FC coaches, who have worked very hard over the last two years to improve our students knowledge of the game, whilst giving them confidence to play competitive football for Bedford Ladies.

“Many of our girls, due to this football introduction, have enjoyed playing on the weekends and have also played for the above year groups for the school.”

“Jill Upton, the Head of Bedford Ladies FC, and her team of coaches, Joel Upton and John Frost, have been huge role models to our girls and continue to support our school with increasing girl participation, we can’t thank them enough.”
