A new Parkinson’s UK support groups has opened in Bedford and has issued an appeal for volunteers.
When they are able to, the group will meet monthly and provide vital peer support, information and activities to people living with Parkinson’s and their loved ones in the local area.
Lisa Lowe Network Support Officer, Parkinson’s UK said: “The group is a lifeline for people in the local area who are living with Parkinson’s, but unless new volunteers step forward people could be left without the support they need.
“If you can spare a few hours a month please volunteer to join our charity and work with the amazing people at our Bedford group – because with your support we really can change lives.”
The group is also looking for a Support Group Coordinator, who will be responsible for organising room bookings and refreshments for the meetings and arranging activities and outings.
Around 1,400 in Bedfordshire have Parkinson’s and Parkinson’s UK is the UK’s leading charity supporting those with the condition.
Its mission is to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s through pioneering research, information, support and campaigning.
