UPDATE: Suspicious package reported near Mosque in Queens Park

Police Line

Coventry Road in Queens Park was closed off on Sunday afternoon, after a report of a suspicious package near the Mosque.

Bedfordshire Police received an alert at 12.30pm and responded to a report of an abandoned suitcase propped up against the wall of the Mosque.

A member of the public confirmed it had been there for ‘three or four days’ before the alarm was raised.

A police cordon went up at 12.50pm while an investigation took place.

The suitcase was found to be empty and the cordon and road closure lifted at 2.10pm.

A spokesperson for Bedfordshire Police said: “We would urge anyone who sees anything suspicious, however small or seemingly insignificant, to contact us on 101, or in an emergency, call 999.”
