Bedford Academy will reopen to pupils as normal this morning, after being closed yesterday (Monday) following the discovery of a body on the school site.

Police were called to the school on Mile Road, Bedford at 7.50am yesterday after an ‘adult male body’ was found.

They cordoned off an area around the school and parents and pupils were informed that the school would be closed for the foreseeable future.

A statement on the school’s website this morning confirms that the school will reopen today at 8.40am.

In a statement yesterday, Bedfordshire Police said that the man had yet to be formally identified and urged anyone with information to contact them.

The Bedford Independent has contacted Bedfordshire Police and Bedford Academy for a statement and will update the story throughout the day.
