Two women jailed for shoplifting haul including seven bottles of Champagne

Two shoplifters from Bedford have been handed prison sentences after being found guilty of theft offences at Luton Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (5 June).

Gemma Capone, 38, of Cantley Road, Great Denham was found guilty of one count of theft from a shop in Tavistock Street.

Daniella Capone, 32, of Colesden Road, Wilden was found guilty of two counts of theft from shops in Tavistock Street and in Riverfield Drive.

The pair were arrested on Tuesday (4 June) in relation to two incidents on 22 and 23 May. On 22 May, Daniella Capone stole a bottle of gin from Tesco worth £27.

The following day, both stole seven bottles of Champagne from another shop, worth nearly £300.

Both women have been sentenced to 14 weeks imprisonment and were both ordered to pay £115 victim’s surcharge.
