Tom Jones, James and Johnny Marr added to 2024 Summer Sessions in Bedford Park

Tom Jones and James are the latest two headliners confirmed for the first-ever Bedford Summer Sessions taking place in Bedford Park in July 2024.

On Thursday, 4 July, Sir Tom Jones will return to Bedford after his triumphant performance in 2016.

James, accompanied by the Orca22 Orchestra and the Manchester Inspirational Voices Choir will headline on Saturday, 6 July, with special guest Johnny Marr, formerly of The Smiths.

Tickets for both shows go on sale from 9am on Friday, 1 December and can be purchased here.

Jones, James and Johnny will join the previously announced Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Jess Glynne and DJ Pete Tong’s Ibiza Classics as headliners on the growing lineup of world-class acts set to perform in Bedford.

The Welsh singing legend that is Sir Tom has been captivating audiences worldwide for over six decades with timeless classics including “It’s Not Unusual”, “She’s A Lady” and “Sexbomb”, selling more than 100 million records and continuing as an esteemed and influential figure in the music industry.

Sir Tom’s career has been filled with numerous honours and accolades, including a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II in 2006, multiple BRIT Awards, a Silver Clef Award, the Music Industry Trusts Award, and a Hitmaker Award.

James are set to delight Bedford Park with their classic tracks brought to life in a way never heard before on Saturday, 6 July.

In 2023, James marked 40 years with the release of ‘Be Opened By The Wonderful’, an album showcasing 20 of their rarest, as well as most loved tracks, re-imagined with the 22-piece, Orca22 Orchestra and eight-piece, Manchester Inspirational Voices Choir.

The trio will unite once again, led by composer and conductor Joe Duddell and fans can anticipate a transformative musical experience, where timeless James hits, such as “Sit Down” and “Laid” will be elevated by dynamic layers of orchestral and choral additions.

Joining them is Johnny Marr, the iconic Smiths guitarist and co-songwriter who helped redefine British indie music in the 1980s. Johnny has performed with The Pretenders, Modest Mouse, The Cribs and The Killers, as well as releasing solo albums.
