Real Bedford followed up an 8-1 thrashing of Colney Heath on Saturday with a 5-1 drubbing of Biggleswade United on Tuesday night as Rob Sinclair’s side continued their good form in the Spartans South Midlands Premier Division.

Real sit in second after eight wins, a draw and a 4-1 loss to top of the table St Panteleimon although the league leaders have played four more games than the Pirates with Biggleswade a point behind in third, having played three more games.

A goal apiece for in-form strikers Joey Evans and Ben Stevens towards the end of the first half gave Real control at Biggleswade United on Tuesday night with further goals from Josh Setchell, Thomas Hitchcock and an audacious effort from Charlie Smith secured another comfortable victory.

Smith’s effort in particular, lobbing the Biggleswade goalkeeper from just inside his own half, was spectacular and capped another near perfect performance.

It was even better on Saturday as 13th-placed Colney Heath were brushed aside with ease at McMullen Park with the usual suspects in the goals.

Real were 3-0 up inside twenty minutes; goals from Setchell, Evans and Matt Clifford doing the damage with Evans scoring a second just before the half-time whistle to all but secure victory.

Evans completed his hat-trick in the second half alongside another two for Setchell to complete his own hat-trick, before Tom Hitchcock rounded off a convincing win.
