The 50km Thames Path Challenge saw Bedford businesses Smarta Healthcare and The Mobility Physio raise £1000 for two local charities on 10 September 2022.
The funds were split equally between the two charities – Carers in Bedfordshire and the Tibbs Dementia Foundation.
CEO at Bedfordshire Pharmacy and Health Clinic at Smarta Healthcare, Harjinder Singh, and the Founder of The Mobility Physio, Nadia Kopec, had come together and walked the 50-kilometre Thames Path Challenge.
The Thames Path Challenge followed London’s iconic river from Fulham to Runnymede.
This was the duo’s second charity challenge, as they had previously cycled the 100km London 2 Brighton challenge together in 2019.
Harjinder said: “It was an honour to complete this challenge with Nadia, to show our support for the incredible work of Tibbs Dementia Foundation and Carers in Bedfordshire.
“Nadia and I both agree that at a time when the cost of living is going up, local charities like this are especially deserving of support for their work at the grassroots level.
“They are fantastic at reaching individuals within our community that really need their help.”
Tibbs Dementia Foundation are based in Bedford, and support people living with dementia and their families. They offer cognitive and physical stimulating activities for people in all stages of dementia.
Carers in Bedfordshire supports unpaid carers of all ages across Bedfordshire. They aim to help the unpaid carers feel recognised, respected, and supported in their role.
Nadia Kopec said: “The amazing support Harjinder and I received for the Thames Path Challenge is really inspiring, and means we can help the work of Carers in Bedfordshire and Tibbs Dementia Foundation.
“They both do so much for our community here in Bedford, we’re over the moon to have hit our fundraising target for them!
“I’d like to give a huge thank you to everyone who donated.”
