Emmanuel Minka, a St Thomas More sixth former has reached the finals of Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow competition with their design of a device to help stroke victims.
Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow competition is open to 16-25-year-olds who can submit designs for original tech ideas aimed at helping communities and those in need.
The designs aim to address at least one of the main themes, those themes being, Education, Sustainability, Equity Diversion and inclusion and Health and wellbeing.
Explaining what his design was, Emmanuel Minka said: “MINKAP is a wearable device designed to improve the quality of life for stroke victims by providing personalised options, all from the comfort of a pocket-sized remote and an app.
“The device is equipped with biometric sensors that enable users to help manage their symptoms and improve comfort, throughout the recovery process.”
Emmanuel saw himself featured on a billboard amongst the bright lights of Piccadilly Circus as part of his competition journey.
A spokesperson for St Thomas More Catholic Secondary and Sixth Form added, “We are so proud of rising star Emmanuel Minka, who was recently placed 4th in the 16-18-year-old category of the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow national competition.
