SMART Prebend centre launches masquerade ball to help protect services

Protect SMART Prebend Centre Fund
The ball will help protect the many services homeless people can access at the SMART Prebend centre

Bedfords’ SMART Prebend Centre, which offers day-time services for local homeless people 365 days a year, will host a masquerade ball in September to raise funds and keep its services running.

The centre offers a place of safety to those who sleep rough, are vulnerably housed and often face issues around social isolation and exclusion.

It costs £250,000 a year to keep the centre open, which is funded entirely through charitable donations, grants and support from the local community.

On top of this, the centre itself is in urgent repairs that it must fund itself.

So, the team have set a target to double the amount raised at last year’s ball, and aim to hit a £20,000 target that will help cover the running costs and much-needed repairs.

The event, being held at the Sharnbrook Hotel on 14 September from 7pm, includes:

  • Fizz on entry and fine 3-course dining
  • Silent Auction (courtesy of Globe Expert Fundraising) with awesome lots alongside an irresistible raffle
  • Entertainment throughout the night, including live mellow Strings Mood Music and Disco
  • A symbolic ceremony to mark every person helped by the SMART Prebend Centre in 2019

Early bird tickets to the masquerade ball cost just £45 each. From 1 August they rise to £55 per person. Tables of 8 or 10 are also available. All profits go directly to the centre.
