Reminder to apply for 2023 primary, lower and middle school places

If your child is due to start school or move up to middle school this September, you will need to apply by Sunday 15 January for the best chance of getting a place at your preferred school.

The council’s online admissions system is open to all parents and carers who live within the Borough and whose children are due to start primary or lower school or transfer to a middle school in September 2023.

Parents and carers who have a child (born between 1 September 2018 – 31 August 2019) starting school in September 2023 or a child in year 4 at a lower school and need to will need to transfer to a middle school in September 2023 should apply now.

The online admission system is available at bedford.gov.uk/onlineadmissions and will close for primary, lower and middle school applications on Sunday 15 January 2023.

Cllr James Valentine, Portfolio Holder for Education and Children’s Services said: “Applying for a school place can be both an exciting and nerve-racking time for parents, carers and their children but it’s a quick and easy process that can be done online in a matter of minutes.

“It is really important that applications are received on time, by 15 January. Missing the deadline could seriously reduce the likelihood of being offered a place at one of your preferred schools.”

Once the deadline passes, any application received will be considered as late, and the chance of gaining a place at a preferred school could be greatly reduced.
