With industrial action planned by train drivers’ union ASLEF across the UK tomorrow (26 November), some rail services out of Bedford will be affected, with EMR saying they won’t be running any trains at all from midnight to midnight on 26 November.
Will Rogers, Managing Director at East Midlands Railway, said: “As a result of strike action being taken by members of the ASLEF union we are not able to run any services on Saturday.
“Customers with advance, off-peak or anytime tickets affected by the strike can use their ticket either on the day before the date on the ticket or up to and including Tuesday, 29 November.
“Customers can also change their tickets to travel on an alternate date or get a refund. More details are on our website.”
Customers are, however, advised to check the EMR website, information in stations and social media for the latest advice and information.
Thameslink
Thameslink, however, says their services are largely unaffected as their drivers are not taking part in ASLEF strike days.
While Thameslink services will be running a largely normal Saturday service tomorrow, trains returning to Bedford from London St. Pancras will have a bus replacement service between Luton and Bedford from 22:53 onwards.
The Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) members are striking over a long-running dispute over jobs, pay and conditions.
Upcoming strikes have also been organised by the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) may however affect Thameslink services on the following days.
- Tuesday 13, Wednesday 14, Friday 16 and Saturday 17 December 2022
- Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4, Friday 6 and Saturday 7 January 2023
Announcements will be made once it’s known how the strikes will affect services.
The trade unions have been calling for better pay for their members amid the cost of living crisis, with inflation now at a 40-year high of 11.1 per cent.
