Police are appealing for information after a man sustained serious injuries when he was assaulted in broad daylight by a moped driver.

The incident happened on 17 April at approximately 2pm when the victim’s car was overtaken by a moped on a roundabout.

This resulted in the rider and the driver exchanging words and stopping by in a nearby car park, close to the local care home.

The moped rider then assaulted the driver by punching him through the car window. When the driver got out of the vehicle, the offender continued his assault before riding away.

The offender is described as a black man in his 20s. At the time of the offence, he was wearing all black clothing. The moped is described as black and had a black delivery box on the back.

Detective Constable Frances Brodie, who is investigating this assault, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who has any information about this incident. We would especially like to ask our residents who live, or were travelling in the area at the time, to check their CCTV and dashcam footage.”

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the police online or by calling 101 and quoting reference number 40/19003/21.

Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.
