Bedfordshire Police is appealing for the public’s help to identify a group of bikers who are causing anti-social behaviour in the Borough.
The group of youths have been reported riding off-road bikes and motor bikes – often without number plates or legally-required protective equipment – in and around Bedford.
Footage captured by members of the public also shows bikers racing across the grass in Jubilee Park.
In a Facebook post, the Community Policing Team wrote: “The bikes and clothing involved have some distinctive features, and we are keen to speak with the individuals responsible.
“If you recognise any of the bikes, helmets, clothing, or riders shown in the images, or if you have any information that may assist our enquiries, please contact 101 or report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
Following a previous story about anti-social behaviour among the biker community, the Bedford Independent received correspondence from two motorcyclists to say that the anti-social behaviour is limited to a small number of people who are not part of their group or a law-abiding motorcycle community.
Both motorcyclists were invited to share their side of the story, but did not take up the offer.
Road-legal bikes are permitted on Byways Open to All Traffic (BOATs). These ‘Green Lane’ routes can be found at the Outdooractive website here.
