Local women are being offered the chance to try golf for free next week, and progress with the We Love Golf campaign, to become part of a very special VIP beginners’ group clinic at the AIG Women’s British Open in August.

Bedford based PGA Professional and European Tour player, Samantha Head, will be opening the doors to The Bedfordshire Golf Club on Monday 17 June, offering free lessons as part of the We Love Golf taster events

Sam says she’s excited to now be able to share the sport she’s played professionally for 24 years.

“I am passionate about introducing women to golf because it has given me an amazing career and life,” says Sam.

“Most women I meet have never had the chance to try golf, but when they do they love it. I want women to experience the joy golf brings on a social level.”

The Professional Golfers Association (PGA) is determined to create more opportunities for women to access the sport and this year.

With the AIG Women’s British Open coming to nearby Woburn Golf Club in August, Sam will be one of 16 female PGA Professionals taking over the teaching area.

Those who find they’ve caught the golfing bug at the free session next week could then take part in a very special VIP beginners’ group clinic at the prestigious event.

Robert Maxfield, CEO of the PGA added: “We are dedicated to showcasing the very best in golf and these women represent everything we stand for. The We Love Golf clinic will definitely bring a lot of fun to the event as well.

“We are delighted to do everything we can to promote women’s golf on a local, national and international stage.”
