This time last year, Spiral Freerun were looking for a new home after their long-awaited planning permission in Biggleswade was turned down, but now the parkour specialists have confirmed that their current home will become permanent with a new long-term lease.
The group have been situated at the site of the old Argos store in the Harpur Centre, and that will now become the stable home of the Community Interest Company after signing a new contract.
Samantha Laycock, Harpur Centre Manager, expressed her excitement about the long-term agreement:
“We are thrilled to have Spiral Freerun as a permanent part of the Harpur Centre.
“Their commitment to the community aligns perfectly with our values, and we’re confident they will continue to inspire visitors of all ages. Their unique offering brings a fresh dynamic to the Centre, and we couldn’t be happier to support their vision.”
Set up in 2012, Spiral Freerun is a hugely popular company which runs high-quality educational and fun free running sessions, otherwise known as parkour, for anyone aged four and over.
Overcoming adversity
Throughout recent years, the group have faced numerous challenges including rent increases, flooding at a temporary base at Wyboston Lakes and planning issues but can now boast a new full-time base to operate out of.
“We are absolutely delighted to be operating within the Harpur Centre at the heart of Bedford”, said Spiral Freerun’s CEO, Luke Brown.
“This move provides us with an incredible opportunity to showcase the benefits of parkour while bringing the community together in ways we’ve never been able to before.
“The support we’ve received from Harpur Centre, [Harpur Centre owners] Tellon Capital, and the Bedford community has been overwhelming, and we are committed to delivering a space that not only serves our members but also becomes a source of pride for the town.

Being at the edge of the Harpur Centre also helps. Not only do Spiral Freerun now have a permanent lease, they also have a permanent shop window, helping to attract new customers and piquing shoppers’ interest in what the group are doing.
