Children isolating from school due to Covid-19 (coronavirus) restrictions will still be able to take part in Friday’s BookTastic events, thanks to the quick-thinking festival organisers.
The annual children’s book festival, BookTastic, takes place this weekend, and for the first time, they are running a schools programme on Friday 2nd July.
However, as the number of pupils having to isolate at home rises, the festival has decided to open up the event to anyone who is unable to attend school.
“We started receiving emails at the start of the week from parents who had expected their children to participate, and from teachers who had registered and now have their classes at home in isolation,” said festival director, Rachael Rogan.
“After a quick discussion, we decided to open the programme up to anyone who wants to attend but won’t be in school on Friday.”
There are three events taking place – bestselling author MG Leonard with her latest book Twitch, Laura Ellen Anderson and Rainbow Grey, and Katie & Kevin Tsang with their latest blockbuster Dragon Legend.
To register simply email email@example.com.
“We’d love to welcome anyone to join us from their homes, it’s a great opportunity to break the isolation monotony this Friday,” said Rachael.
