Police Latest News

A nine-year-old girl is in a critical condition after being involved in a collision with a car in Wootton, near Bedford, yesterday afternoon (24 May)

The collision, which involved a grey Hyundai IX20, happened on Bedford Road in the village not far from the junction with Potters Cross at about 4pm.

The girl was rushed to Addenbrooke’s by air ambulance and is said to be in a critical condition.

Bedfordshire Police are now asking anyone with any information about the collision to get in touch with them.

Sergeant Craig Wheeler, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit, said: “We would like to hear from anybody that may have witnessed the collision or the Hyundai being driven along Bedford Road in the moments leading up to the collision.

“In particular, I would also appeal to anyone who may have dash cam footage or CCTV footage of the Hyundai or the collision to contact us.”

Witnesses, anyone wit dash cam footage, or anyone else who may be able to help with police enquiries, can contact Sergeant Wheeler via 101, or by visiting the online reporting centre on the Bedfordshire Police website.

You can also report information to Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
