New signage acting as information points have been installed at Bedford Park and Addison Howard Park in Kempston in an effort to “improve the visitor experience” across the Borough’s green spaces.
Bedford Borough Council say the new noticeboards and signage replace “outdated and tired information points” and will make it easier for park users to find useful information, upcoming events, and local amenities.
This is the latest in a series of improvements works across the Borough’s parks.
In Bedford Park, works over the last few years include complete refurbishment of the playground nearest the lake, improvements and refurbishment to the fitness area and refurbishment of the basketball court, and tennis courts.
Further works have included the start of a programme of topping up of gravel pathways, bench replacements and the creation of wildflower areas.
Work to the bandstand at Bedford Park is also in the pipeline.
“We are excited to see these new noticeboards and signage, which will enhance the overall experience for visitors to Bedford Park and Addison Howard Park,” said Sarah Gallagher, Portfolio Holder for Customer Experience, Leisure and Culture.
“These improvements demonstrate our dedication to creating welcoming and informative public spaces for our residents and visitors.”
Crackdown on unauthorised drivers
Addison Howard Park in Kempston has also seen a number of improvements, including work to plant a number of trees which will not only improve the aesthetic of the park, but also help with blocking unauthorised vehicles entering the park.
Along with the complete refurbishment of the playground as well as new entrance gates will also aid in keeping the park refreshed.
Both Bedford Park and Addison Howard Park have been recipients of Green Flag awards in the past.
