Back in August, the Bedford Independent broke the news that Bedford will be getting a new Visitor Information Centre (VIC), now we can tell you it will be open from 17 October and reveal its new logo.
The VIC will now be at St Paul’s Church, Bedford in St Paul’s Square, right in the centre of town, and will be looked after by volunteers. The group took up the challenge to open the centre after council bosses closed the Tourist Information Centre at Bedford Bus Station back in 2016 saying reduced income was to blame.
A spokesperson for the team, who will be on hand to help any visitor find what they’re looking for in Bedford and the surrounding area, said: “The new Visitor Information Centre will focus on promoting all that is good about Bedford, our parks, the river, our theatres, guided walks, museums and heritage organisations. We hope it will provide a focus point for visitors and locals alike seeking information about the attractions that the town has to offer. Thanks to our enthusiastic team of volunteers and the help of the team at St. Paul’s church we are ready to go and look forward to the challenge ahead in helping to return an important asset to Bedford.”
The new Visitor Information Centre will open on Wednesday 17th October. It will be open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 1030 until 1600, with plans to extend opening hours in the future.
