Biddenham pupils past and teachers present joined Principal David Bailey (right) and Head teacher Eleanor Grylls (left) to raise money for Save the Children on Christmas Jumper day.
The photo shows just a few of the 16 former pupils who now teach at the school. Nearly 30 members of the teaching staff at the school – including teaching assistants and trainee teachers – are former Biddenham pupils.
David Bailey said, “It is great to have so many of our former students joining us to teach at the  school.
“Most of our staff and many of our students took part in our fundraising Christmas Jumper Day and in doing so showed our caring side here at Biddenham and how important it is to think of others – especially at this time of year.”
Among the former pupils who now teach at the school is Dr Sally McGrath, who went on to read chemistry at Cambridge.
“Sally was a pupil when I first joined the school 19 years ago,” said David. Â “She’s now back teaching chemistry with us. Â It is massively unusual for a school to have so many ex-pupils return to teach.
“In a time when recruitment and retention of staff is so difficult it is something we actively encourage. It does take them a while to stop calling me sir, though.”
