Schools in Bedford have issued safeguarding reminders to parents and pupils after a man in his 20s was arrested this morning (Tuesday).
Bedfordshire Police received reports of a man approaching children on their way to school near Haylands Way at around 8.20am.
Shortly after, one man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of inciting a child in sexual activity, as well as assaulting an emergency worker.
A message sent to parents at one nearby school said:
“We have been informed by a local school that two of their students were approached by a male on their way to school this morning.
“He tried to show them inappropriate pictures on a mobile phone.”
Bedfordshire Police said they have increased patrols in the area to provide reassurance.
