The county’s largest arts, crafts and produce fair returns to Bedford this Sunday (1 December) to help you get your Christmas shopping wrapped up.
The twice yearly Made in Bedford Artisan Fairs bring together dozens of vendors and attracts visitors from across the region.
This December’s event at the Corn Exchange, Harpur Suite and Howard Room will see over 70 vendors representing the best of Bedford’s artists, designers, makers and craftspeople.
Visitors can take part in craft workshops in the Harpur Suite bar and there will be food from Dog House Kitchen, Number 13 and locally roasted coffee by Wooden Hill.
“By buying the work of a local artist, designer or maker, you are improving the prosperity of your local community,” said organiser Rachel Atkinson.
“It is important to give local creative businesses a platform for their work at a popular and accessible event such as the Artisan Fair.
“Most of them have online shops but are unable to afford premises on the high street. Buying local is better for the environment as small creative businesses are using traditional production skills or using local materials and suppliers, avoiding the environmental costs of mass-manufacturing and transport.”
The Made in Bedford Christmas Artisan Fair is from 10am – 4pm. More information on their Facebook event page.
