Whilst I welcome the opening of the Queen’s Park Family Hub, the Mayor seems to forget that it was his very own Conservative Party that shut the earlier Queen’s Park Sure Start Centre.

This was a vital resource that served the community until his party decided that the demands of the destructive dogma of austerity trumped the needs of local children and families.
The Institute for Fiscal Studies found that around 13,000 admissions of children to hospital each year were likely prevented by the work of Sure Start children’s centres across the country.
Research commissioned by the Government itself in 2016 found that they delivered value for money.
The closure of Sure Start was a classic example of Tory ‘false economies’, an approach which continues to the present day with the current ‘Concrete Crisis’ in the nation’s schools.
