Letters: Don’t forget your voter identification on polling day

154

Dear Editor,

As we approach General Election polling day, I want to take a moment to remind residents across our Borough of an essential requirement for this election period: voter identification.

At this General Election, it is mandatory for all voters to present a valid form of photographic ID when casting their vote in person. You must bring an accepted form of voter ID, which include but isn’t limited to:

  • Passport
  • Driving Licence
  • Blue Badge
  • Government-Issued Travel Passes

If you do not possess any of the eligible forms of ID, there is still time to apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate. This certificate serves as an alternative identification document specifically for voting purposes.

However, please note that the deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate is fast approaching. You must submit your application by 5pm on Wednesday, 26 June.

The application process is straightforward, and our council staff are ready to assist you if you have any questions or require support.

For more information on voter ID requirements, how to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate, or any other election-related inquiries, please visit our official Bedford Borough Council website.
