Latest news: Hospital confirms there have been 11 coronavirus deaths in Bedford

A spokesperson for Bedford Hospital has today confirmed that 11 patients have now lost their lives to coronavirus.

All of the patients were over 60 years old and had underlying health conditions.

The total number of patients confirmed to have the virus is now 72, an increase of 12 on yesterday’s figure.

David Carter, Chief Executive at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust said, “We can confirm that sadly, 11 patients aged between 64yrs and 85+yrs have passed away at Bedford Hospital.

“They all had underlying health conditions.  All 11 patients had tested positive for COVID-19.

“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patient’s families and loved ones at this very difficult time.”
