Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service say they’re tackling a “large fire” at the derelict Robert Bruce Middle School in Kempston.
People are being advised to avoid the area to allow vehicles to easily access the scene.
There are fire crews on the scene from Kempston, Bedford, Sandy, Luton, Leighton Buzzard and four fire engines from crews outside Bedfordshire.
Firefighters on the scene say about 25% of the three-storey building is on fire.
The fire was officially scaled down at around 9:30am with no reports of any injuries.
