An initiative to show support to the frontline staff working during the current crisis is taking place across the whole of the UK on Thursday (26 March).
Clap for our Carers (#clapforourcarers) is a coordinated way that we can all show our thanks for the tireless work being done by frontline staff.
At 8pm on Thursday, the nation is being asked to give a massive round of applause from their doorsteps, windows, balconies and gardens.
Not only are nurses, doctors, GPs and carers worthy of our heart-felt thanks, but let’s not forget supermarket workers, delivery drivers, school staff, pharmacists, public transport workers, corner shop keepers, bank workers, postmen and women, vets and takeaway staff.
Many of these frontline workers have been battling COVID-19 head on and putting themselves at risk in the process.
We salute you all.
So (virtually) gather your neighbours through phone calls, texts and WhatsApp messages and ensure your street and neighbourhood joins in with the nation’s biggest thank you.
We may not be able to sing Nessun dorma from our balconies, but we can definitely put our hands together for our essential workers.
