The team behind Cardboard Clues are launching a new interactive game this summer, following the success of their ‘Murder in the Museum’ project in the Higgins Bedford.

Riverside Ramble takes you out of the museum and into the town centre, allowing you and your friends or family to become detectives and solve mysteries by finding and following clues.

The game takes participants on a 2.5-kilometre route starting outside the John Bunyan Museum and goes through the town’s green spaces, along the River Great Ouse, and to the ancient Castle Mound.

The entire adventure takes around two hours, though can be completed at your own pace.

The founder of Cardboard Clues, Darrell Cannon, said: “We wanted to create something that gets people outdoors and actively engaging with their local area. The trail combines the satisfaction of puzzle-solving with the reward of discovering interesting spots around Bedford.”

The game is played in teams of up to six people competing on a live leaderboard, costs just £10 per team and only requires a phone with their app downloaded. The experience can be purchased from their website and played at any time.

Cardboard Clues also runs Murder in the Museum, a game that transforms museums into immersive detective experiences. Their first game launched at The Higgins Bedford in October 2024, inviting participants to work as teams to solve crimes while exploring the museum’s collections.

It is currently running nearby at Northampton Museum and Art Gallery and St Neots Museum, but a return to The Higgins is planned for September with brand new cases to solve.
