Despite what you may have read elsewhere, there is hardly any snow expected in Bedford, even though there has been a yellow weather warning of ice from the Met Office.
As is usual for this time of year headlines of ‘snowmageddon’ and ‘worst weather since forever’ surface but most of it is unfounded nonsense.
The Met Office has issued a ‘yellow weather’ warning for ice, which they say means “ice will form on some surfaces later Tuesday and overnight into Wednesday, with further wintry showers at times.”
But, aside from a possible light flurry between 7am and 8am tomorrow (Thursday 24 Jan), they don’t expect Bedfordians to see any of the white stuff just yet.
Of course temperatures will be very cold still, it may reach -3ºc overnight tonight and highs won’t be much higher than 5ºc before Friday, so do wrap up warm.
Please do also check on your vulnerable family members and neighbours and if you see any rough sleepers or homeless out in the cold, call StreetLink so they can offer overnight shelter.
