Real Bedford’s unbeaten start to the Spartans South Midlands league season continued as Rob Sinclair’s side showed their attacking prowess with eleven goals in two league wins over the past three days.

A 7-0 thrashing of current bottom side, Sawbridgeworth Town was followed up with a 4-1 away win at Aylesbury Vale on Tuesday night as Real posted their fifth win in six league games.

Despite this, Real sit in third behind Biggleswade United and St Panteleimon who visit McMullen Park on Saturday.

Seven up on Saturday

Real Bedford had little trouble seeing off Sawbridgeworth Town on Saturday with the usual suspects finding the back of the net.

Goals from Mo Ahmed, Joey Evans and Ben Stevens before half-time put the game to bed before Real continued the goal fest into the second half.

Joey Evans scored his second of the game thanks to a smart assist from Charlie Smith while Eddie Corbit scored his second in as many games shortly after to make it 5-0.

A Luke Knight penalty made it six before salt was rubbed in Sawbridgeworth wounds with an own goal in stoppage time to gift Real Bedford a 7-0 victory.

The goals kept coming on Tuesday night as Real travelled to Aylesbury Vale Dynamos, coming home with all three points in a 4-1 win.

Two penalties from Luke Knight either side of the break plus goals for Archie Jones and another for Mo Ahmed contributed to another comfortable evening for the Pirates.

All the headlines might be going to the attackers as the goals keep pouring in, but it is said you cannot win a league title without a sturdy defence and while Real have scored 20 league goals in six games, they have only conceded twice.

Tyler McGregor has been making key saves at important intervals for Real, which is sure to please Rob Sinclair as much as the action at the other end of the pitch as he sets his sights on a second successive league title.

That resolve may well be tested this weekend however as Real host St Panteleimon at McMullen Park on Saturday.

100% record for the Ladies

There has been similar success for Real Bedford Ladies also this season as they secured their fourth victory in four league games in the Eastern Region Women’s Football League with a 4-2 win at Wroxham.

Another brace from striker, Francesca Partridge set the team on their way to another victory on Sunday while Gemma Croucher and Natasha Fensome were in the goals again.

The Ladies have also been in fine goal scoring form, also scoring 20 league goals in just four games as they sit atop of the league table with Haringey Borough and Luton Town behind them.

They continue their league season this Sunday with a trip to Bowers and Pitsea.
