Bedford charity, Gig Buddies is just £461 short of its Aviva Community Fund Crowdfunder, and is hoping generous Bedfordians will help them reach their target.
The charity, set up in Bedford in May 2018, partners someone with a learning disability or autism with a volunteer who has similar interests and then they go out socially once a month.
Activities including gigs, cinema trips, going to a football match or visiting the gym.
Organiser, Fizz Hestletine, said, “We are participating in the Aviva Community Fund Crowdfunder and are just £461 short of our target.
“The crowdfunding is open until 21 April and we would be so grateful if local people could help us achieve our £1,500 goal.”
Gig Buddies Bedford was established 18 months’ ago, with a year’s funding from The Harpur Trust.
We currently have more than 10 participants that live outside of Bedford and want to come into Bedford to enjoy the vibrant and varied nightlife that other local towns are missing,” explained Fizz.
“This funding would enable us to recruit volunteers in their local area and will make a huge difference in tackling social isolation faced by many people with learning disabilities and/or autism.”
