With a week to go before the season begins, Bedford Town managers Jon Taylor and Nathan Abbey have been making more additions to strengthen the squad and give the team the best chance of gaining promotion.
Returning this season, after an impressive spell in the second half of last season, is midfielder Ebby Nelson-Addy, who joined Bedford from this weekend’s opponents Cambridge City.
Bedford have also completed the signing of three new players. Keeper Aaron Dillon, striker Abraham Eze and the versatile Manny Soetan.
Dillon, 23, originates from the Republic of Ireland and comes to the Eagles with an impressive pedigree, having played for Blackburn Rovers since coming to the UK.
His registration is subject to international clearance from the Football Association.
Joint Manager Jon Taylor said: “It is good news that Aaron has agreed to sign for the coming campaign.
“We’ve been looking for a second keeper all summer, as we feel it is important that Nick (Bennion) has competition for his place between the sticks.
“Both lads are capable of holding down the number one shirt and we look forward to seeing which one will make it their own.”
Also signing is Abraham Eze, who has looked lively in the preseason games he’s featured in, scoring a brace in the recent win against Biggleswade Town.
Eze has previously played for Biggleswade United, Oxford City, St Albans and Egham and was with promotion winning Biggleswade F.C last season.
Finally, Manny Soetan is a 27 year old who can play upfront or on the wing, he has previously been with Buckingham Athletic, Aylesbury United, St. Albans City, Lymington Town, Bashley, Banbury United, Ampthill Town, AFC Rushden & Diamonds, Blackfield & Langley and Eastleigh.
His registration has been processed successfully with the Southern League.
Meanwhile, Louis Hall, who signed for the Club last month, has now agreed a one year contract.
Previously playing for Stourbridge and Aston Villa the young left back has put in very impressive performances throughout preseason.
Jon Taylor is pleased to get Hall’s commitment for the forthcoming campaign, “We’re all delighted that Louis has agreed to sign a contract with the club.
“He has an excellent future ahead of him and we hope he will continue to climb the league ladder.
“He has excellent ability and is a vital part of our plans going forward, especially with left sided players being so hard to come by at this level.*
There’s a final preseason chance to see these new signings at the Eyrie this Saturday at 3pm against Cambridge City.
With the league start a week away, attention also turns to cup ties.
The Eagles will find out their opposition in the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday following the extra preliminary round tie between Harborough Town and Deeping Rangers. The winners of this tie will come to the Eyrie on Saturday 24th August.
In the Buildbase FA Trophy Bedford travel the short distance to Biggleswade F.C on Saturday 28th September, after facing them in the league earlier in the month.
Finally, on Tuesday 22 October the Eagles travel to Leighton Town in the Bedfordshire Senior Challenge Cup.
