There’s fun for all ages at Kempston Family Day this Saturday (2 August) as Addison Howard Park hosts a community celebration filled with exciting activities for all from 11am – 6pm.
Fantastic local musical talent will be showcased on a Community Stage hosted by Bedford Radio, and up-and-coming DJs from local schools and the popular weekly Digital Beats DJ Club will be showcasing their skills at the Musical Seeds Boogie Box.
Musical Seeds is a not-for-profit organisation that supports children, young people, and marginalised groups by teaching valuable music skills such as DJing with controllers, turntables, and software.
Councillor James Valentine (Kempston West, Labour) expressed his excitement for the event, telling the Bedford Independent: “I’m thrilled to see Family Day return to Addison Park on Saturday.
“It’s a cherished tradition in Kempston, backed by both our borough and town councillors. The event offers a wonderful chance for people of all ages to come together and take part in music and art activities.”
Ark Farm will provide animal lovers with amazing up-close encounters with Farmyard animals and sports-mad families will love experiences provided by The Football Fun Factory and the Come and Try sports area provided by our local leisure centre provider “Better”.
There will be a range of food and drink stalls, craft and trade markets, along with Art School Tsymbal’s children’s workshop, which encourages young visitors to become “Artist of the Day” by completing fun, free creative activities.
The children’s funfair rides and recently refurbished play area will keep the little ones entertained all day long.
The team from Everyone’s Gang will be taking part in the event and founder Pete Henrickson, said: “Everyone’s Gang is an inclusive community organisation and that is why attending Kempston Fun Day is so important for us.
“We’re looking forward to increasing awareness of the work we do with young people in Kempston & Bedford.”
Cllr Valentine said: “The event is fully inclusive and I’m particularly glad the council’s special needs team are involved as well.”
Additional facilities include free on-site parking and information and activities from the council’s Local Offer SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) team, ensuring the event is inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.
