Bedford Blues Women will face more competitive clashes this season as the extended NC1 East fixture list has been released, with fourteen league games to navigate for Eddie Rennell’s side.
All home games are once again scheduled to be played at Goldington Road, as the Blues look to build on their solid fourth place finish last season in their second campaign at this level after promotion from NC2 Midlands (South) in 2023/24.
They finished that debut season at NC2 with a 100% record, but the challenges have picked up since as the women’s game grows around the country, and the Blues will have to be at their best to challenge towards the higher echelons of an NC1 division that has grown to eight teams.
Colchester Iceni and West Norfolk Warriors Ladies are two new sides for the Blues to face off against – and also add to the team’s mileage – amongst familiar names such as Stamford, Hitchin and Harpenden.
Wymondham Wasps and the Blues’ first opponents, Ipswich complete the NC1 East line-up.
The Blues’ first home game is scheduled for Sunday 19 October as they welcome Stamford to Goldington Road, with the campaign kicking off with two away games at Ipswich on 21 September and Harpenden on 5 October.
They do however benefit from three consecutive home games to finish the season, with contests against Colchester Iceni, Wymondham Wasps and Ipswich from 22 March 2026.

Personnel changes
While Eddie Rennell continues in his role as the Women’s head coach, there has been some changes in the backroom staff, headed by the inclusion of former Blue, Tim Clarke who replaces Abi Simpson as Head of Women’s Rugby.
The club are still on the lookout for a backs coach to strengthen the coaching team, while Kelly Hodgson steps up to take on the role of captain, with Emma Hunter installed as vice-captain.
