Ladies' 6s Hockey Bedford v St Albans 5 Jan

While most of the men’s teams, and the Ladies’ 1s and 2s, must wait for the restart of their league games, having to settle for in-house training and Indoor action instead. There were, however, league matches for the rest of the ladies’ teams and for the Men’s 3s this weekend.

It was an excellent post-Christmas start for the Ladies’ 6s, taking St Albans to a 5-1 win, seeing Bedford sitting a comfortable fourth in the table.

Top of the table, Berkhamsted & Hemel 1s, put on a dominant display in the first half of the Ladies’ 3s game at Chester Road. Bedford found their feet in the second half, however, pulling back to 2-1 and then frustrating the opposition by a goal in the closing seconds of the match to secure a hard fought 2-2 draw.

A two-all score line was, also, the result for the Ladies’ 4s in their away game to Leighton Buzzard, whilst the third in the table 5s held second place St Albans to a goalless draw. The sole men’s game, away to Blueharts, unfortunately ended with the 4s going 4-2 down.

This coming weekend sees all teams in action, with home games for the Ladies’ 2s, 4s and 7s, and the Men’s 1s and 4s and, with both teams being in the same division, the Men’s Veterans will be battling the Bedford Men’s 5s, at Chester Road.

Sunday sees the restart of Junior Training, along with Walking Hockey, as well as having the Ladies’ 1s travelling away for a friendly with Stourport.

Anyone looking to realise a New Year’s resolution to get fit would be very welcome to join the Walking Hockey at 10 o’clock on Sunday morning.
