As we go through each category for this year’s Bedford Independent Everyday Heroes Awards, in partnership with the Harpur Trust, it’s been really good to look at who has won the award in the past and build excitement around who may win the award in the future.

Today we’re looking at the Fundraiser of the Year (Team) award, sponsored by White Hart Press.

Daniel O’Loughlin from the company, based on York Street, said: “White Hart Press are proud to be associated with the Everyday Heroes Awards supporting the Fundraiser of the Year (Team).

“Fundraising within Bedford is very close to our hearts. We have always admired the teams of people who stand up and take notice, showing good stewardship for long-lasting impacts from their fundraising efforts.”

We’ve been highlighting each award category ahead of the closing date for nominations on midnight 31 January 2024.

Please remember the nomination must be for activities carried out between January and December 2023.

Fundraiser of the Year (Team) sponsored by White Hart Press

We’re looking for a team* who has worked hard to raise awareness and cash for their chosen charity.

Whatever they’ve raised funds for, and no matter how much, we want to hear the creative ways they gained support and why it was important to them to support their cause. Individuals will be judged on passion, creativity and commitment to their cause.

“When the community of Bedford sees that there is a fundraising success they will inevitably jump on board and this is what we love about our town.

“We wish all nominees and teams the very best of luck in this award,” added Daniel.

These two Year 10 students have worked very hard on various fundraisers, such as raising money for children in developing countries who need educational resources, period poverty and for winter blankets in times of need.

They raised well over £2000 in 2022.

The Bedford School ‘MoBros’ is a group of around 80 Upper Sixth Form schoolboys who raised a staggering £14,272 placing them first (out of 603 teams) in the UK School’s challenge and were ranked 15th in the whole country for their fundraising efforts.

Additionally, they educated others and created awareness of men’s health in the process.

Highly commended: Gavin Hoyte & Grant Williams for the RBD Football Match
