As we go through each category for this year’s Bedford Independent Everyday Heroes Awards, in partnership with The Harpur Trust, it’s been really good to look at who has won the award in the past and build excitement around who may win the award in the future.
Today we’re looking at the Fundraiser of the Year (Individual) award, sponsored by Woodfines. Neil Gibbs, Managing Partner at Woodfines says they’re proud to celebrate those who make Bedford Brilliant.
“Local heroes are the lifeblood of any community, and none more so than those committed to good causes determined to raise awareness and bring about change,” said Neil.

We’re looking for someone who has worked hard to raise awareness and cash for their chosen charity.
Whatever they’ve raised funds for, and no matter how much, we want to hear the creative ways they gained support and why it was important to them to support their cause.
Individuals will be judged on passion, creativity, and commitment to their cause.

2022 winner: Hugh Maltby
Hugh tirelessly raised over £5,000 for Country Days by cycling over 10,000 miles in Bedfordshire, including a marathon stint at the Bedford River Festival.
