Fundraiser of the year (individual) winner 2021, Brian Webb with Daniel O'Loughlin from White Hart Press who sponsored the award last year.

As we go through each category for this year’s Bedford Independent Everyday Heroes Awards, in partnership with The Harpur Trust, it’s been really good to look at who has won the award in the past and build excitement around who may win the award in the future.

Today we’re looking at the fundraiser of the Year (Individual) award, sponsored by Woodfines. Neil Gibbs, Managing Partner at Woodfines says they’re proud to celebrate those who make Bedford Brilliant.

“Local heroes are the lifeblood of any community, and none more so than those committed to good causes determined to raise awareness and bring about change,” said Neil.

“As a firm, we [Woodfines] have been established in the Borough of Bedford for many years and understand the importance of supporting our community.

“We are proud to be a part of these awards and look forward to learning about the individuals who have brought passion, creativity and commitment to their cause.”

Over the next few days, we’re highlighting each award category ahead of the closing date for nominations on 3 March 2023.

Fundraiser of the Year (Individual) sponsored by Woodfines

We’re looking for someone who has worked hard to raise awareness and cash for their chosen charity. Whatever they’ve raised funds for, and no matter how much, we want to hear the creative ways they gained support and why it was important to them to support their cause.

Individuals will be judged on passion, creativity, and commitment to their cause.

Last year’s (2021) winner of this award was Brian Webb.

Brian is the Chairman of Beds Prostate Cancer Support Group (BPCSG). Over the last three years, Brian has visited around 50 pubs and barbershops on a regular basis to fundraise.

In that time, he has raised over £5,000 – which contributes valuable funds to the local charity [BPCSG]. Brian takes nothing by way of money for his time, petrol and other expenses. He is just a really decent guy, he is a Cancer survivor himself – and wants nothing more than to be able to save lives.
