Newport Pagnell Town v Bedford Town 10 July
Newport Pagnell Town 1:1 Bedford Town (Ford)

The Bedford Eagles got their preseason campaign off the mark with a tight draw with Newport Pagnell Town Football Club.

Bedford’s latest signing, the returning Gavin Hoyte returned to his centre back position as a part of a strong Town starting line up.

Bedford had the better of the first half, with good chances for last seasons top scorer Dan Walker and new signing Tre Mitford.

Mitford hit the bar on the half hour mark, before Ben Ford’s superb 25 yard free kick went in off the bar to give the Eagles a one goal half time lead.

Joint managers Jon Taylor and Nathan Abbey changed the team for the second half, with all ten outfield players replaced.

With the team full of trialists, albeit with the experience of Scott Joseph and Andrew Phillips, the Swans grew back into the game and got a deserved equaliser half way through the second half.

Eagles starting line up: Nick Bennion, Cade Stevens-Abbey, Louis Hall, Ben Ford, Gavin Hoyte, Derek Udah, Dan Walker, Callum Donnelly, Tre Mitford, James Hall, Nathan Olukamni.

The challenge will be far greater on Saturday as the Eagles welcome Championship neighbours Luton Town to the Bright Management Eyrie Stadium for the first home preseason friendly.

The visitors will be bringing a strong first team squad with them for what could be Bedford’s best attended game of the campaign.

Turnstiles will open at an earlier than usual 11am for the 3pm kick off. Parking will be limited at the ground, so if possible car share or travel by other means and arrive early.

Admission for this match is £10 adults, £7 for Concessions and under 21’s, £4 for 10-15 and under 10’s free.
