Bedford Blues Women were formed in June 2020 as part of the club’s development plan with Bedford Junior Blues to have a pathway through from age-grade to Women’s adult rugby.
In their debut season, they were crowned champions of NC3 Midlands (Central) Division following a fantastic campaign which saw them remain unbeaten in league action.
They have grown from strength to strength since formation with nearly 40 players already turning out for the side and have been competitive in all fixtures.
Following strong crowds on their previous four trips to Goldington Road, the club are targeting a 1,000+ crowd for the Christmas bonanza and you could help them secure the milestone.
Make sure to stick around after the game for the Player of the Match award, alongside live music from highly acclaimed local artist Mat Roberts.
Bedford Blues Chief Operating Officer, Gareth Alred, said: “We are very proud of what the Women’s team have achieved to date, and together, we want to grow women’s rugby in Bedford.
“The women’s team remains an inclusive community side, but with an ambition and passion to strive forward. We hope this local festive fixture with generate further interest in rugby and the women’s game.
“The men’s team will be away in Jersey competing in the Championship, so it gives a real focus to our women’s side, both to their own existing audience, and hopefully a wider Blues supporter base.”
