The Liberal Democrat candidate for Great Denham said she “would relish the chance” to serve the community.
Joanna Szaub-Newton, who moved to Great Denham in 2014, said: “There are several issues that are incredibly important in Great Denham, not least the lack of GP provision for our growing area.”
Joanna said she has been actively involved in local politics for a “number of years”.
“At first helping deliver the FOCUS leaflets, and then knocking on doors talking to residents and asking their views on a number of issues,” she said.
“I work closely with mayor Dave Hodgson and the existing councillors to share the views of Great Denham residents and discuss how we can deliver real change to improve people’s lives,” she said.
Joanna said knocking on the Great Denham community’s doors has been a “very positive” experience.
“There are a number of issues raised,” she said.
“The number one issue is the availability of GPs – which is why it is one of the key issues I am campaigning on.
“Another big issue is the Cost of Living Crisis and the government’s inaction on energy bills.
“Residents have also raised issues about parking, ensuring we have sustainable and sensible development, and access to high-quality education for our children.
“I am passionate about supporting young families and looking at how we can have more opportunities and activities for our children outside of school hours.
“As a scientist, I am keen to see more girls studying science, technology, engineering and mathematics and pursuing these as careers,” she added.

Joanna said: “I care passionately about the Great Denham area – this is my home and where my children are growing up.
“I use the same facilities as other residents, and like everyone else, I want to make sure the area is safe, secure, and looked after.”
