Bedford Borough Council has reissued an executive decision on council tax just two days after approving it, after an error was found in the report supporting it.
The original decision (1845), signed on 5 January, approved changes to how the cost of parks, open spaces and community centres is shared between different parts of the borough from April 2026.
These charges affect how much council tax residents pay in Bedford, Kempston, Brickhill and rural areas.
In the report linked to the earlier decision, one paragraph included a sentence explaining how the cost of maintaining open space at Great Denham and land west of Kempston was shared between Kempston and the rural parts of the borough.
When the decision was reissued two days later, that sentence was removed.

Despite the decision being reissued, the report said nothing has changed in practice. The same services are included, the same figures are used, and the same example council tax impacts apply.
Under the decision, about £1.7 million of spending is treated as local-only costs. Most of this (£1.55 million) relates to parks and open spaces, with £151,879 linked to community centres.
Both the original and replacement decisions were signed by the mayor and are subject to the usual call-in period before they can take effect.
