A record £11,700 was raised at the bi-annual Towers Charity Summer Ball in aid of two vital local charities, the Bedford Blues Foundation and the Primrose Car Service.
Held at the Bedford Blues marquee on 28 June, the glittering evening brought together Bedfordians for a night of celebration and giving in aid of the Bedford Blues Foundation and the Primrose Care service. It raised the highest amount ever collected at the event.
The 150 guests were treated to a three-course menu, accompanied by a cheeseboard, while an auction by Andrew Wilmer from Lane & Holmes raised £5,300.
The charities
The Bedford Blues Foundation uses the power of sport to inspire, engage, and support people of all ages across the Bedford area.
Their programs focus on enhancing physical and mental well-being by offering opportunities for regular, sustainable physical activity.
From working with disadvantaged young people to delivering school and community projects, the Foundation plays a critical role in local development and wellbeing.
The Primrose Car Service was established in 2006 and provides free transport for cancer patients to and from their radiotherapy treatment.
The service is a lifeline for many patients who would otherwise struggle to get to the hospital. The service is staffed by dedicated volunteers who generously donate their time to make a stressful period a little more manageable for those undergoing treatment.
Debbie Inskip from the Primrose Car Service said, “A massive thanks to Matt & Ann and the wonderful team at Club Towers for the most fabulous ball on Saturday night.
“Not only did we all enjoy a wonderful evening but everybody was so very generous towards the two chosen charities, the Bedford Blues Foundation and, ourselves, The Primrose Car Service.
“You have raised a truly amazing amount and we are extremely appreciative. Thank you for all your hard work and enthusiastic generosity of all your members over the year.”
Meanwhile, Tom Harwood from the Bedford Blues Foundation added, “Thank you for all who attended Club Towers 2025 charity ball and came to support the Blues Foundation and Primrose Car Service.
“We had a fantastic evening filled with dancing, laughing and great company. The money raised was an outstanding amount, and we are extremely grateful!”
Towers’ fundraising year for the Primrose Car Service and Bedford Blues Foundation has now come to an end, and they will shortly be announcing the final totals raised for these charities over the past 12 months.
