“Our Power, Our Planet” is the motto for this year’s Earth Day, and Bedford Borough Council are celebrating the day with a series of events in the town, aiming to inspire the community to enact positive change for the environment.
Earth Day 2025 takes place on Tuesday 22 April and the Council are urging residents and businesses to get involved with the events on offer in order to “inspire local action on climate change and promote sustainable practices across the borough.”
To mark Earth Day on Tuesday 22 April 2025, the Council will illuminate the Bedford Corn Exchange in green from sunset until 1am.
This symbolic gesture aims to raise awareness about climate action and remind residents of the potential for a sustainable future through collective efforts.
In the evening, the Council will host a free Climate Fresk Community Workshop at Bedford Borough Hall from 6pm to 9pm.
This interactive session, delivered by Climate Clarity, will help participants gain a deeper understanding of climate science and explore ways to engage others in meaningful climate education.
The events continue into the following week, as Bedford Borough Council will host a dedicated business event in the Harpur Suite on the morning of Wednesday 30 April.
This event will include a free workshop on ‘greening’ your business, an introduction on inspiring a strong local circular economy alongside a networking showcase as well as guidance on working towards a local net zero.

“This event reflects our commitment to supporting local businesses in their transition to more environmentally responsible practices.”
