CCTV images released after woman has cards stolen while shopping

Police want to speak to these men in connection with a theft inside a Bedford home décor store on Rope Walk.

CCTV images of a man police would like to speak to in connection with a robbery inside a Bedford shop have been released.

The theft happened earlier this month at around 5 pm on 1 July at a home décor store on Rope Walk.

A woman was shopping in the store when she was approached by two men. One man managed to open the victim’s handbag and took her purse.

The victim’s card was then used to withdraw a significant amount of cash.

PC Alex Mason, from Bedfordshire Police who is investigating, said: “We are keen to speak to the men pictured as we believe they may have information that could help in our investigation. If you recognise them please let us know.

“I would also like to remind our residents to always raise concerns of suspicious behaviour with store staff. Offenders of this type of crime are opportunistic so please remain vigilant.

“Always flag for help if anyone is attempting to distract you while shopping and where possible try to keep your bag with the clasp facing inwards.”

If you think you know who the man is, or have any other information about the incident, contact the police online at or via 101, quoting reference number 40/34229/21.
