A Thurleigh-based business has raised over £7,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support with its 35-strong team travelling over 300km in one day, right on their doorstep.
Cazoo Wholesale, the online trade car auction division of Cazoo, has raised the money by running, walking, jogging, hopping or skipping their way around the 0.9km perimeter of their site on Thurleigh Road, just outside Milton Ernest.
The team’s original target of 250km was smashed within four hours, as was the original fundraising target of £2,900.
Cazoo Wholesale’s director, Sam Tomlinson, said: “As we all know, cancer is something that affects many, many people and all of the team have experienced these effects in one way or another.
“We wanted to show our support to all people who need the vital work which Macmillan undertakes both at national and local levels
around Bedford and the surrounding areas.
“I am so proud of the team for having smashed both the targets we set ourselves and would thank all of the people who donated through our Just Giving page.”
Cazoo Wholesale employs 35 staff, many from the Bedford area, and sells over 15,000 vehicles to the trade each year, including to local used car dealers.
It was recently shortlisted for the Remarketing Company of the Year Award at the MotorTrader Independent Dealer Awards and has invested in the Bedford centre and the people employed there.
