A new photography exhibition celebrating life across Bedfordshire opens at The Higgins Bedford this Saturday (19 July).
Camera in the community, a partnership with Bedford Camera Club, will run until 28 September 2025, offering visitors a glimpse into local life through the eyes of community photographers.
The exhibition showcases five themed projects by club members, capturing a wide range of subjects, from energetic rock concerts and candid moments in local pubs, to portraits of Indian dancers and the traditional craft of rush harvesting.
These visual stories aim to reflect the diversity and everyday moments that shape the region.
Founded in 1906, Bedford Camera Club has long supported photographers of all levels in developing their creative and technical skills. This exhibition continues that legacy by presenting new work from across the borough.
Jim Boud, President of Bedford Camera Club, said: “We are delighted to have put together for The Higgins Bedford this exhibition of the work of club members showing the diversity and richness of those living and working in our community.
“We hope people will find the exhibition enjoyable and that it will stimulate an interest in photography. We welcome new members.”

The Higgins Bedford, located on Castle Lane near The Embankment, offers free admission and is accessible to visitors of all ages. The venue features a range of exhibitions and collections focused on local history, art, and culture.
